Ingredients

  • 4 rump steaks
  • 12 shallots
  • 400 ml red wine
  • 2 tbsp plant oil
  • 20 g butter
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Instructions

    Wash the steaks, pat dry, lightly salt and pepper them. Peel and halve the shallots. Heat the red wine in a pan, add the shallots and let everything simmer slightly.

    Heat oil in a heavy skillet over high heat and sear each side of the steaks for 1 minute. Reduce heat and cook another 3 minutes on each side.

    Remove from the pan, wrap in foil. Add the red‑wine shallot mixture to the pan drippings, stir in cold butter, and serve with the steaks.
