Ingredients
- 250 g flour
- 125 g butter
- 70 g sugar
- 1 packet vanilla sugar
- 1 egg yolk
- 2 tbsp heavy cream
- 200 g powdered sugar
- 1 tbsp Lemon Juice
- flour (for the work surface)
- sugar (to dust)
Instructions
-
1.
Knead flour, butter, vanilla sugar, egg yolk, cream and sugar quickly into a smooth shortbread dough. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for about 30 minutes.
-
2.
Preheat the oven to 180 °C. Roll the dough out thinly (3–5 mm) on a lightly floured surface and cut out snowflakes or stars using a cookie cutter, dipping it in flour each time. Place the finished shapes carefully on a parchment‑lined baking sheet, dust lightly with sugar, and bake for about 12–15 minutes until golden brown. Remove and cool. (Before baking, you may poke a small hole at one end of each snowflake with a wooden skewer to use later as a hanger.)
-
3.
Whisk powdered sugar with lemon juice and, if needed, a few drops of water into a thick glaze. Turn a piece of parchment or paper into a small cone, leaving a tiny opening (1–2 mm) at the tip, fill it with the glaze, and use it to outline the snowflake shapes on the cooled shortbread cookies. Let the glaze dry well.
