Ingredients
- 1 l milk
- 6 egg whites
- 6 EL sugar
- 0.5 l milk
- 0.5 Vanilla pod
- 2 egg yolks
- 40 g sugar
- 2 TL cornstarch
- raspberry sauce (or another red fruit sauce of choice)

Bring the milk to a boil for the dumplings. Whip the egg whites into stiff peaks, gradually adding sugar until the meringue is firm. Using a tablespoon, drop spoonfuls into the boiling milk and cook gently for about 1 minute while turning carefully. Drain the dumplings in a sieve. Repeat until all meringue is used.

Heat the remaining milk with the scraped vanilla pod. Whisk the egg yolks with sugar until frothy, then stir in the cornstarch. Gradually whisk in the hot milk. Return everything to the pot, stirring until it thickens, remove from heat and portion into bowls. Place the dumplings on the vanilla sauce and garnish with red fruit sauce as desired.
