Simple Chocolate Cake with Cocoa
The simple chocolate cake with cocoa is always a hit. By using applesauce the cake stays sweet while only a little sugar is needed!
Ingredients
- 4 eggs
- 200 g butter
- 150 g whole grain sugar
- 200 g applesauce (unsweetened)
- 250 g wheat flour type 1050
- 1 packet baking powder
- 50 g cocoa powder
- 1 pinch salt

Separate the eggs. Beat the butter with half of the sugar and the applesauce until fluffy. Gradually add the yolks and continue beating. Sift the flour, combine it with the baking powder and cocoa, and stir it quickly into the batter.

Beat the egg whites with a pinch of salt until stiff peaks form, let the remaining sugar fall in, then beat again to stiff peaks. Fold this into the batter. If desired, butter a Bundt pan, pour in the batter, and bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C (160 °C fan; gas: level 2‑3) for about 50 minutes.

Remove the chocolate cake from the oven, transfer it to a cooling rack, and let it cool.
