- 4 stale rolls
- 250 ml lukewarm milk
- 50 g soft butter
- 80 g sugar
- 4 egg yolks
- 250 g quark (drained in a sieve)
- grated lemon zest
- 50 g sultanas
- 30 g almond sticks
- 4 egg whites
- 1 pinch salt

Slice the rolls into thin strips, pour over the milk, and let soak for 30 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 200 °C. Line a baking dish with parchment paper.

Whisk butter, sugar, and yolks until fluffy; fold in soaked rolls, quark, lemon zest, sultanas, and almond sticks.

Beat egg whites with a pinch of salt until stiff peaks form. Fold into the mixture. Pour the batter into the dish, top with butter flakes. Bake for about 40 minutes until golden brown.
