Ingredients

  • 350 g flour
  • 200 g cold butter (in pieces)
  • 175 g sugar
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1 tbsp Lemon Juice
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 tsp Baking powder
  • 400 g powdered sugar
  • 2 egg whites
  • food coloring (supermarket)
  • sugar pearls

Instructions

  1. 1.

Quickly knead all dough ingredients into a smooth dough, shape into a ball and wrap in cling film for about 2 hours in the refrigerator.

  2. 2.

Roll out the dough on a floured work surface to 3-4 mm thickness in portions and cut or stamp out stars (about 8 cm wide).

  3. 3.

Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 8-10 minutes. Remove and let cool.

  4. 4.

For decoration whisk the egg whites with powdered sugar and color with food coloring. (Red for hat and coat; brown for hands, boots and belt, yellow for buckle, all as desired).

  5. 5.

First coat the cookies for hat and coat with red glaze. For other decorations fill the differently colored glazes in freezer bags, cut small corners and apply accordingly. (The smaller the opening the finer the glaze application. Wait until each color dries before applying the next.) Finish faces with sugar pearls.
