Roasted Quince with Spices

Spoonsparrow roasted quince tastes great on its own or as a savory accompaniment.

Ingredients

  • 4 quines
  • 10 g ginger (1 piece)
  • 1 vanilla pod
  • 100 ml cloudy apple juice
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 3 star anise
  • 2 Cinnamon sticks

Instructions

    Wash, peel, quarter and cut the quince into strips or halves. Peel the ginger and grate finely. Split the vanilla pod lengthwise.

    Add ginger, vanilla, apple juice, honey, butter, star anise, and cinnamon sticks to a saucepan and simmer over medium heat for 1–2 minutes. Arrange the quince in a baking dish and pour the hot syrup over them. Bake in a preheated oven at 160 °C (140 °C fan; gas: level 2) for about 40 minutes until tender, turning halfway through. Remove and serve plain or with vanilla ice cream.
