The rice pudding squares from Spoonsparrow are a great snack for children without added sugar.

Ingredients

  • 600 ml Milk (3.5% fat)
  • 1 tsp vanilla powder
  • 200 g rice pudding grains
  • 1 pear (+ optionally 1 for serving)

Instructions

  1. 1.

Bring the milk with vanilla powder to a boil in a pot. Add the rice and simmer gently over low heat for about 20 minutes, stirring regularly.

  2. 2.

Meanwhile peel, quarter, core the pear and dice the flesh into small cubes. Mix into the rice, remove from heat and let stand for about 10 minutes. Line a baking tin with parchment paper.

  3. 3.

Fill the rice pudding into the tin and smooth it out. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C (fan 160 °C; gas: level 2–3) for about 20 minutes until lightly golden brown. Let cool, then cut into squares and serve optionally with fresh pear slices.
