Potato Gratin with Mackerel

Ingredients
- 4 mackerel (ready to cook)
- 1 Garlic clove
- 1 kg waxy potatoes
- 0.5 l milk
- 50 g crème double
- Salt
- pepper (ground)
- 75 g grated Gruyère cheese
- 100 ml White wine
- 1 onion
- 1 tbsp oil
- butter

Peel and finely chop the garlic clove.

Grease a baking dish with butter. Wash, peel, and slice the potatoes into very thin rounds or shave them. Layer in the baking dish.

Whisk together milk, cheese, and crème double; season with salt and pepper and pour over the potatoes. The potatoes should be almost covered, optionally add a little more cream.

Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) under/over heat for about 25 minutes until golden brown.

Meanwhile, rinse the mackerel and pat dry. Peel the onion and cut into rings. Sauté in hot oil, add garlic, then deglaze with white wine. Reduce by half. Place the fish on top of the gratin, pour over the onion broth, season with salt and pepper, and bake for another 15 minutes until done.
