Potato Bake with Cabanossi and Onions

Ingredients

  • 750 g potatoes
  • 250 g Cabanossi sausage
  • 2 onions
  • 1 tbsp butter (+ butter for the dish)
  • 300 ml whipping cream
  • 1 egg
  • 50 g crème fraîche
  • Salt
  • black pepper (freshly ground)
  • 100 g freshly grated cheese (e.g., Gruyère, Emmental)
  • 2 tbsp fresh chopped parsley

Instructions

    Peel and wash potatoes, then slice them thinly. Cut the sausage lengthwise in half and slice into rounds.

    Peel, halve, and slice the onions. Heat butter in a pan, sauté the onions until translucent, then remove from heat.

    Grease the baking dish. Arrange the potato slices with onion and sausage rounds in the dish.

    Whisk together cream, egg, and crème fraîche; season with salt and pepper, then stir in the grated cheese. Pour this mixture over the layered potatoes.

    Bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C (160 °C fan‑forced or gas stove level 2–3) for about 40–45 minutes. Remove from the oven and sprinkle with parsley before serving.
