The porridge with figs, plums and pecan nuts from Spoonsparrow is the perfect warming fit-making breakfast for autumn.

Ingredients

  • 800 ml milk (1.5% fat)
  • 0.25 tsp vanilla powder
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 180 g fine rolled oats
  • 2 ripe figs
  • 2 plums
  • 100 g seedless blue grapes
  • 30 g pecan nuts (2 tbsp)
  • 1 handful small basil leaves (5 g)
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 0.25 tsp cinnamon

Instructions

  1. 1.

Heat the milk with vanilla and a pinch of salt, stirring until it boils. Add the oats and simmer on low heat for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.

  2. 2.

Meanwhile wash the figs and slice them. Wash the plums, halve them, remove the pits and cut the flesh into strips. Wash the grapes and separate from the stems. Toast the nuts in a hot dry pan over medium heat for 3 minutes, then roughly chop them. Rinse the basil leaves.

  3. 3.

Fill bowls with the porridge. Add the figs, plums and grapes on top. Sprinkle the toasted pecans over the mixture and drizzle with honey. Finish by sprinkling a little cinnamon and garnishing with basil leaves.
