Ingredients

  • 250 g butter
  • 200 g sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 limes (unprocessed, zest and juice)
  • 400 g flour
  • 1 packet baking powder
  • 50 g cornstarch
  • 100 g whipping cream
  • 250 g poppy seed loaf
  • 2 tbsp orange liqueur
  • fat for the pan
  • 1 lime (unprocessed, zest and juice)
  • 150 g powdered sugar

Instructions

    Grease a Gugelhupf tin. Beat butter, sugar and eggs until fluffy. Fold in flour, baking powder, cornstarch and cream. Divide dough into two halves. Stir lime zest and juice into one half; fold poppy seed loaf and liqueur into the other. Pour first the poppy seed mixture, then the lime mixture, and marbled with a fork.

    Bake at 175°C for 50-60 minutes. Strip zest from unprocessed limes, squeeze one out. Let cake cool, unmold. Mix lime juice and powdered sugar into a thick glaze, brush over cake, sprinkle with lime zest.
