Ingredients

  • 0.5 l rosé wine (or red wine)
  • 1 untreated lemon
  • 100 g sugar
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 4 pears
  • mint for garnish

Instructions

  1. 1.

Wash the lemons and slice them with peel into rounds.

  2. 2.

Slowly bring wine, cinnamon stick, sugar and lemon slices to a gentle boil in a pot, stirring occasionally. Cook uncovered until the wine becomes slightly thickened.

  3. 3.

Wash, peel, and carefully remove the core from each pear using a sharp knife, keeping the stem attached as much as possible.

  4. 4.

Remove the cinnamon stick and lemon slices from the wine. Place the pears side by side in the pot and pour red wine over them. Simmer covered on low heat for 30 minutes.

  5. 5.

Take the pears out of the pot. Reduce the wine to a syrupy consistency.

  6. 6.

Arrange the warm or cold pears on plates and drizzle with the wine syrup. Garnish with fresh mint leaves. Serve with vanilla ice cream.
