Ingredients

  • 400 g flour
  • 1 packet dry yeast
  • 0.5 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 200 g Sour Cream
  • 1 tsp paprika powder
  • 1 tbsp curry powder
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • 200 g ham
  • 300 g pineapple chunks (canned)
  • 150 g grated Emmental cheese
  • 100 g mozzarella (diced)
  • aluminum foil
  • 1 cheese slice
  • 2 black olives
  • 0.5 red bell pepper

Instructions

  1. 1.

Preheat the oven to 220°C fan.

  2. 2.

Sift flour into a bowl, mix with dry yeast, salt and sugar. Warm about 200 ml water handwarm, slowly add while stirring constantly. Add oil midway and use just enough water for a smooth elastic dough. Dust work surface with flour. Knead dough on it with fists for about 5 minutes. Shape into a ball, return to bowl, cover with cloth and let rise at room temperature for 45-60 minutes.

  3. 3.

Combine all sauce ingredients in a bowl and mix together.

  4. 4.

Drain pineapple chunks through a sieve, catch the juice for another use. Dice ham. Mix both with cheese.

  5. 5.

Knead dough again, divide into six parts. Cut two parts in half each to form snake heads. Roll remaining four parts into 30 cm long, 10 cm wide strips and lay them snake‑like on parchment paper on baking trays. Place a head on each strip. Tear about 20 cm of foil from the roll, fold several times into a thick strip, cut into 12 pieces and press into dough where eyes and tail will be. Brush snake body with sour cream mixture and sprinkle cheese mixture. Bake in oven for about 25 minutes.

  6. 6.

Meanwhile cut eight triangles from cheese, slice olives into slivers, peel half of bell pepper and cut into four tongues. Garnish finished snakes, plate on dishes and serve.
