Ingredients

  • 150 g chickpeas
  • Salt
  • freshly ground pepper
  • Cumin
  • 1 bunch marjoram
  • 2 Eggs (size M)
  • 2 tbsp breadcrumbs
  • 3 tbsp grated cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • butter or clarified butter
  • 750 g red bell peppers
  • 750 g yellow bell peppers
  • 750 g green bell peppers
  • 2 onions
  • 2 tbsp oil

Instructions

    Soak chickpeas overnight in water. Drain, then cook in plenty of water with a teaspoon of salt for about 60 minutes. Let the chickpeas drain, set aside one third, and puree the rest. Add the whole chickpeas to the puree. Season with salt, pepper, and cumin. Rinse the marjoram, shake dry, and finely chop. Mix eggs, breadcrumbs, and cheese into the chickpea mixture. Peel, crush, and add the garlic.

    Shape oval, thick patties from the batter. Heat oil. Fry the patties on both sides for 5 minutes each, then set warm. Quarter the bell peppers, clean, wash, and cut into strips. Peel and finely chop the onions. Heat oil again and sauté the pepper and onion strips for 10 minutes. Season the vegetables with salt and pepper and serve alongside the patties.
