Ingredients

  • 1 Lime
  • 2 Garlic cloves
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp five-spice mix
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • 600 g squid (8 cleaned pieces)
  • 2 red bell peppers
  • 150 g tomatoes
  • 1 stalk Thai basil

Instructions

    Squeeze the lime. Peel and press the garlic, then mix with olive oil, five-spice mix, half of the lime juice, salt, and pepper. Toss the squid in the mixture and marinate for 1 hour in the refrigerator.

    Meanwhile wash and trim the peppers and tomatoes. Slice the bell peppers into thin strips and cut the tomatoes into wedges.

    Add the marinated squid to a hot pan and sear on all sides for 5 minutes over high heat. Add the vegetables and simmer for 5 more minutes over medium heat. Season with salt, pepper, and remaining lime juice.

    Wash the basil, shake off excess water, and pluck the leaves. Divide the squid among four bowls and sprinkle with basil.
