Orange Cinnamon Stars
Classic with especially fruity note: The Orange-Cinnamon Stars from Spoonsparrow are guaranteed to be well received.
Ingredients
- 6 egg whites
- 500 g powdered sugar
- 3 tsp ground cinnamon
- 4 tbsp orange juice
- 0.5 tsp orange zest
- 600 g ground almonds
- 50 g chopped almonds
- powdered sugar (for dusting)

Beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Gradually add the powdered sugar, continuing to beat until the mixture shines. Fold in the cinnamon, orange juice, orange zest, 500 g of ground almonds and the chopped almonds. Shape a ball in the bowl, cover and refrigerate for about an hour.

Sprinkle the remaining almonds on a work surface and roll the dough out to a thickness of about 1 cm. Dampen a star-shaped cutter with cold water repeatedly and cut stars. Place them on two parchment-lined baking trays and bake at 130 °C (fan) for 25–30 minutes in the preheated oven. Remove from the tray, let cool, then dust with powdered sugar.
