Cinnamon Stars with Honey

Ingredients

  • 5 egg whites
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 200 g powdered sugar (+ 2 tbsp for glazing)
  • 500 g ground almonds
  • 2 tsp cinnamon powder
  • 2 tbsp kirschwasser

Instructions

    Beat the egg whites until stiff, gradually adding honey and powdered sugar while stirring. Set aside one cup for glaze.

    Mix almonds, cinnamon powder, and kirschwasser with the meringue; knead into a smooth dough and cover, refrigerate for 1 hour.

    Dust a work surface with powdered sugar. Roll out dough to about 4 mm thickness. Cut star shapes with a cookie cutter, place on two parchment-lined baking sheets, brush with glaze, and let dry overnight at room temperature.

    Bake the cinnamon stars the next day in a preheated oven at 160 °C (fan 140 °C; gas: level 2) for about 8 minutes.
