Ingredients

  • 150 g dark chocolate couverture
  • 200 g butter
  • 200 g sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 untreated orange (zest and juice)
  • 100 g ground hazelnuts
  • 2 tsp Baking powder
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 400 g flour
  • milk (as needed)
  • 150 g dark chocolate couverture
  • 2 Tbsp whipping cream
  • 150 g chocolate-covered waffle
  • orange peel

Instructions

    Preheat the oven to 180°C with upper and lower heat.

    Coarsely chop the chocolate couverture with a knife. Melt over a hot water bath and let it cool. Whisk the butter and sugar in a bowl until fluffy. Gradually stir in the eggs until a creamy mixture forms. Add the orange zest and juice as well. Fold in the melted chocolate, hazelnuts, and the flour mixed with baking powder and cocoa powder. If needed, add some milk to achieve a firm yet spreadable dough. Spread the batter onto a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven on the middle rack for about 45 minutes (check with a toothpick).

    Remove from the oven and let cool on the sheet before lifting it off.

    For decoration, chop chocolate and melt with whipping cream over a hot water bath. Let it cool to spreadable consistency and coat the cake. Sprinkle chopped chocolate-covered waffles and orange zest on top.
