- 0.2 l lukewarm milk

- flour for dusting
- 100 g chopped walnuts
- 80 g chocolate chips

Combine the flour and hazelnuts in a bowl, press a well in the center. Crumble the yeast into it. Pour in the lukewarm milk and mix with 1 tbsp sugar and a little flour. Cover and let the pre‑starter rise for about 30 minutes. Then add the eggs, butter and salt to the starter and knead until smooth and detached from the bowl; adjust milk if needed. Keep covered until doubled in volume (about 45 minutes).

2.
Preheat the oven to 180 °C with fan and top heat.

3.
Knead the dough again, quickly fold in the walnuts and chocolate chips, then divide into thirds and shape into strands. Stack them in the middle and braid from both ends toward a knot at each end. Fold the ends down and press firmly. Place on parchment paper, cover and let rise for about 15 minutes. Brush with milk and bake in the preheated oven for about 50 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean.
