Mulled Wine with Rum

The mulled wine with rum from Spoonsparrow warms up on cold days just right.

Ingredients

  • 2 untreated oranges
  • 15 cloves
  • 200 ml clear apple juice
  • 600 ml red wine
  • 50 ml rum
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 4 cinnamon sticks (for serving)

Instructions

    Wash the oranges. Cut one orange in half and slice each half into wedges. Skewer each wedge with 3 cloves. Squeeze juice from the second half and the other orange. Combine the juice with apple juice, red wine, rum, honey, remaining cloves, and cinnamon stick; bring to a boil and then simmer gently for about 10 minutes.

    Distribute orange wedges and cinnamon sticks over glasses and strain the mulled wine with rum into the glasses.
