Melon Popsicle on a Stick
A refreshing melon popsicle on a stick: Water ice is popular among sweet lovers because it’s low in fat. Our version adds extra vitamins.
Ingredients
- 800 g small watermelon (1 small watermelon)
- 400 ml red grape juice
- 100 ml black currant juice
- 2 sheets of red gelatin
Instructions
-
1.
Quarter the melon with a large knife and then halve each quarter. Remove large seeds with a toothpick.
-
2.
Slice the fruit flesh from the rind with a small knife, creating about 2 cm thick slices. Cut these into strips approximately 7 cm long.
-
3.
Thread the melon sticks onto wooden skewers, wrap each individually in plastic wrap, and chill in the freezer for 1 hour.
-
4.
Meanwhile, bring the grape and currant juices to a boil in a pot and reduce to about 200 ml.
-
5.
Soak gelatin in cold water, squeeze out excess liquid, and dissolve it into the warm juice mixture while stirring. Keep it cool until the gelatin starts to set.
-
6.
Dip each frozen melon stick halfway into the gelatin‑juice mix and refreeze. Once the coating hardens, repeat the process and chill the ice for at least another 2 hours.
