Ingredients

  • 250 g Spinach
  • 1 onion
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 100 g sun‑dried tomatoes
  • Salt
  • black pepper (freshly ground)
  • 1 stale roll
  • 1 kg mixed ground meat
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 tsp dried marjoram
  • 80 g breadcrumbs

Instructions

  1. 1.

Rinse the spinach, pat dry and roughly chop. Peel and dice the onion. Sauté in hot oil until translucent, add the spinach and let it wilt. Roughly chop the tomatoes, mix in, then remove from heat. Season with salt and pepper and allow to cool slightly.

  2. 2.

Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) fan‑forced or conventional.

  3. 3.

Soak the roll in lukewarm water. In a bowl combine the ground meat, drained roll, and egg. Season with salt, pepper, thyme, and marjoram, then mix well. Add breadcrumbs until the mixture is firm enough to hold its shape. On a floured surface form a rectangle about 1.5 cm thick. Spread the spinach over it, roll up, seal the edges and ends firmly. Place carefully on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and bake for about 1 hour until golden brown.

  4. 4.

Slice and serve with a mixed salad or your choice of side.
