Meatloaf with Sauce
The meatloaf with sauce from Spoonsparrow is an ideal Sunday dish for family or guests.
Ingredients
- 1 stale roll
- 2 onions
- 2 tbsp plant oil
- 2 tbsp freshly chopped parsley
- 800 g mixed ground meat
- 1 egg
- Salt
- pepper (ground)
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 1 tsp dried marjoram
- 2 onions
- 1 Garlic clove
- 1 tbsp plant oil
- 1 tbsp Tomato Paste
- 250 ml light beer
- 250 g passata
- 1 tsp Paprika powder (sweet)
- cumin (ground)
- Salt
- Pepper
Instructions

Soak the roll in lukewarm water, then squeeze out excess liquid. Peel and finely dice the onions. Sauté them in 1 tbsp hot oil until translucent, then let cool slightly.

Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) with both top and bottom heat.

Combine the ground meat with the drained roll, egg, diced onions, and parsley. Season with salt, pepper, thyme, and marjoram. Shape the mixture into a loaf on parchment paper, smooth the surface, brush with oil, and bake for about 1 hour.

For the sauce, peel and dice an onion; mince a garlic clove. Sauté both in hot oil until translucent. Add tomato paste briefly, then deglaze with beer. Stir in passata and paprika, simmer gently for about 20 minutes to thicken slightly. Season with cumin, salt, and pepper.

Slice the meatloaf and serve it with the sauce.
