Ingredients
- 300 ml milk
- 1 strong hot espresso
Instructions
-
1.
A latte macchiato is essentially steamed milk into which a strong espresso is poured.
-
2.
A well-made macchiato consists of several layers that do not blend together.
-
3.
Tools/materials:
-
4.
Pot/cup for heating and frothing the milk (or an espresso machine with a steam wand, ensure sufficient bar pressure to create good foam),
-
5.
Whisk or mini whirlpool tool
-
6.
Macchiato glass – a tall glass, preferably slightly thicker.
-
7.
Espresso machine or espresso pot
-
8.
Steam the warm milk in a pot using a milk frother. When enough foam is present, pour hot milk with foam into a glass (reserve 2 tablespoons of foam) and gently tap the glass on the table a few times to help separate the foam from the milk.
-
9.
If making an flavored latte macchiato, add syrup to the hot milk.
-
10.
Pour fresh espresso from the machine. Never add flavored syrup to the espresso, as it would make the espresso denser than the milk and prevent clean layers from forming.
-
11.
Always use properly hot espresso; do not let it cool. Pour the espresso slowly and carefully in a ring shape into the glass (easier: pour over the back of a spoon). Seal the hole created by the espresso in the foam with the reserved foam, serve immediately with brown sugar.
-
12.
With careful handling, perfectly separated layers form.
