Ingredients

  • 1 kg potatoes
  • 1 onion (for the dough)
  • 1 onion (for sautéing)
  • 1 cup matzo meal
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tsp oil
  • oil (for baking sheet/baking)
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • paprika powder
  • Chives

Instructions

    Peel the potatoes and the large onion. Grate the potatoes into a bowl, grate the onion.

    Drain the resulting liquid. Stir flour, egg yolk, and oil into the raw potatoes until a thick batter forms. Season with salt and pepper. Spread onto an oiled baking sheet, drizzle with a little oil, and sprinkle paprika powder. Bake in a preheated oven at 220°C for about 10-15 minutes until golden brown. Remove from the oven, cut into diamond shapes, and serve garnished with chives.
