Ingredients

  • 1 red pepper
  • 1 tsp freshly grated ginger
  • 0.25 tsp ground cloves
  • juice of 1 lemon
  • 2 tbsp white rum
  • 1 bunch chopped cilantro
  • Salt
  • 2 Garlic cloves
  • 2 ribeye steaks (about 200 g each)
  • 1 papaya (about 400 g)
  • 400 g Tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp Lime juice
  • 2 tbsp Orange juice
  • Cayenne pepper
  • 2 tbsp sunflower oil
  • 0.5 packet taco chips (ready-made)

Instructions

    Halve the pepper lengthwise, remove seeds, wash and cut into strips. Mix pepper, ginger with cloves, lemon juice, rum, 2 tbsp cilantro and a pinch of salt. Peel garlic and press in. Marinate the meat in this mixture for 2 hours.

    Cut the papaya in half, remove seeds, peel and dice finely. Wash tomatoes, quarter them, remove seeds and chop small. Mix both with lime and orange juice and season with salt and cayenne pepper.

    Heat oil in a pan and sear the ribeye steaks on both sides for about 3–6 minutes (depending on preference). Wrap the meat in foil and let rest for 5 minutes, then slice into strips. Plate Jamaica-Steaks with salsa and taco chips.
