Italian-Style Apple Strudel

Ingredients
- 200 g Flour
- 1 egg
- Salt
- 4 tbsp oil
- 4 tbsp lukewarm water
- 1.5 kg tart apples (e.g., Boskop)
- 5 tbsp raisins
- 70 g sugar
- 0.5 tsp ground cinnamon
- 30 g breadcrumbs
- 80 g chopped hazelnuts
- 70 g butter
- 3 tbsp milk
- flour (for the work surface)
- butter (for the baking sheet)
- powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 200°C.

Step 1: Heap flour with salt onto the work surface, press a depression in the middle and add the egg.

Step 2: Pour 3 tbsp oil and 2 tbsp lukewarm water into the depression. Knead into a smooth, elastic dough. Add more water if needed. Shape the dough into a ball, brush with remaining oil, wrap in plastic wrap and let rest at room temperature for about 30 minutes.

Step 3: Peel, quarter, core and slice apples crosswise into thin slices. Prepare the remaining filling ingredients.

Mix apple slices with raisins, sugar and cinnamon.

Melt the butter.

Step 4: Roll out the dough on a floured cloth, then stretch it thinly over the cloth using your hands.

Step 5: Brush with butter. Spread the apple mixture on top and sprinkle with hazelnuts and breadcrumbs.

Step 6: Roll up the strudel with the help of the cloth.

Step 7: Place seam side down onto a greased baking sheet. Brush with milk and bake in the preheated oven (middle rack) for about 40 minutes.

Remove, let cool slightly. Dust with powdered sugar before serving and cut into slices.
