Ingredients
- 4 apples (e.g., Boskop or Braeburn)
- 0.5 lemon
- 50 g breadcrumbs
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 0.5 tsp cinnamon
- 40 g currants
- 2 sheets strudel dough (30x30 cm)
- flour (for dusting)
- liquid butter (for brushing)
- whipped cream (optional)
Instructions
-
1.
Preheat the oven to 200°C.
-
2.
Peel, quarter, core the apples and cut the quarters into small pieces. Squeeze the lemon juice and mix it with the apple pieces. Add the breadcrumbs, sugar, cinnamon, and currants, and combine well.
-
3.
Dust a kitchen towel with flour. Brush the strudel dough with butter and lay the sheets on the towel in a slightly overlapping fashion to form a rectangle about 30x50 cm, leaving about 5 cm free at the edges.
-
4.
Spread the filling along one long side in a wide strip and roll it up using the towel. After the first fold, press the edges inward and continue rolling until finished.
-
5.
Brush an oven tray or baking sheet with butter and place the strudel seam-side down on it. Brush with remaining liquid butter and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
-
6.
Serve sliced, dusted with powdered sugar, and optionally topped with whipped cream.
