  • Nutmeg (freshly grated)
  • soft butter (for the pan)
  • 1 onion
  • 2 carrots
  • 1 celery stalk
  • 750 g minced beef
  • 2 tbsp Vegetable oil
  • 250 ml meat broth
  • pepper (ground)
  • 50 g shredded cheese (e.g., cheddar or Emmental)

Instructions

  1. 1.

Step 1: Peel and wash the potatoes, place them in a pot with salted water, cover, bring to a boil, then simmer covered for about 25 minutes.

  2. 2.

Step 2: Drain the potatoes, let them steam briefly, then mash finely with a potato masher. Stir in the milk until a thick batter forms, seasoning with salt and nutmeg.

  3. 3.

Add the vegetable cubes briefly, stir in tomato paste, then deglaze with broth. Bring to a boil and season with salt and pepper. Pour the meat mixture into the prepared tin.

  5. 5.

Step 5: Spread the potato mash evenly over the meat layer so it is fully covered.

  6. 6.
