Ingredients

  • 400 g ripe elderberries
  • 1 vanilla pod
  • 200 g brown candied sugar
  • 800 ml clear alcohol (e.g., Korn 32%)

Instructions

    Strip the elderberries from their clusters, rinse thoroughly, and discard green berries. Split the vanilla pod lengthwise, scrape out the seeds, and mix with the berries, candied sugar, and alcohol; pour into bottles. Let steep in a cool dark place for about 8 weeks, shaking occasionally.

    Afterward strain the liqueur through a fine sieve to remove the elderberries, then transfer to clean bottles.
