Grilled Melon Relish
Grilled melon relish with chili and honey: melons are low in calories. A refreshing dip for grilled pork or poultry.
Ingredients
- 15 g ginger (1 piece)
- 1 Green Chili Pepper
- 1 Lime
- 2 EL honey
- 1 EL white wine vinegar
- 500 g cantaloupe melon (or honeydew)
- Salt
- a little oil (for grilling)
- 3 spring onions
- 4 stems coriander
- Pepper
Instructions

Peel and finely chop the ginger.

Halve the chili lengthwise, deseed, wash and dice finely. Squeeze the lime juice.

Boil the honey in a pot, stir in the vinegar.

Add ginger, chili and 2 EL lime juice to the pot, cook for 1 minute, remove from heat and let cool completely.

Peel the melon, halve it lengthwise and seed with a spoon.

Cut the flesh into 5 mm thick strips, lightly salt and pat dry with paper towels.

Grill the strips in a lightly oiled pan or on a hot oiled grill for about 45 seconds per side.

Let cool and cut into small cubes.

Add the melon cubes to the cooled sauce.

Trim the spring onions, wash, slice the white and light green parts finely.

Wash coriander, shake dry, pluck leaves and finely chop.

Combine all with the relish, season with salt and pepper, let rest at least 1 hour before serving.
