Grilled Marinated Tofu
Grilled marinated tofu with steamed baby pak choi. The tofu is cholesterol‑free and rich in high‑quality protein.
Ingredients
- 1 orange
- 4 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 tsp chili flakes
- 600 g firm tofu
- 8 baby pak choi
- 1 small carrot
- 30 g ginger (1 piece)
- 1 Shallot
- 2 tbsp oil
Instructions
-
1.
Squeeze the orange. Whisk together soy sauce, 5 tbsp orange juice, honey and chili flakes. Set aside 4 tbsp of this mixture.
-
2.
Cut tofu into four equal pieces and place in a baking dish. Pour the sauce over the tofu and cover; marinate in the refrigerator for 6 hours.
-
3.
Clean and rinse pak choi, then let it drain well. Peel the carrot and julienne into very thin strips. Peel the ginger and cut into fine slices. Peel the shallot and finely chop.
-
4.
Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pot over medium heat; sauté ginger and shallot until translucent for 2 minutes. Add carrot strips and cook another minute.
-
5.
Add pak choi to the pot, drizzle with the reserved sauce, cover and steam for 2 minutes. Flip and steam for an additional 1–2 minutes until just tender. Keep warm in the pot.
-
6.
Heat a grill pan and brush with remaining oil. Pat tofu dry and grill each side for 1–2 minutes over high heat until nicely charred. Arrange tofu and pak choi on plates and serve immediately.
