Ingredients

  • 175 g butter
  • 225 g semolina
  • 100 g almond sticks
  • 1 l milk
  • 300 g sugar
  • 6 tbsp peeled almonds
  • 10 fresh mint leaves

Instructions

    Heat the butter in a wide pot. Add the semolina and almonds and roast them at medium heat, stirring constantly for 20 minutes until golden yellow. Remove the pot from the stove. Heat the milk and sugar in another pot and pour it over the hot semolina‑almond mixture (beware of splattering!). Stir the semolina over medium heat for 15 minutes until thick and firm.

    Rinse a dome-shaped mold with cold water and pour the semolina pudding into it. Smooth the surface with a wet spoon. Chill the halwa for 1 hour.

    Meanwhile, roast the almonds in a pan. Pour the halwa onto a plate and garnish with the roasted almonds. Serve decorated with mint leaves.
