Firewood with Quark

Ingredients
- butter (for the baking dish)
- 250 g old yeast loaf (alternatively brioche or rolls)
- 2 Apples
- 1 tbsp Lemon Juice
- 2 tbsp sliced almonds
- 300 ml milk
- 3 eggs
- 125 g low-fat quark (topfen)
- 2 tbsp vanilla sugar
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp butter
- cinnamon-sugar mix (for sprinkling)
Instructions

Grease the baking dish. Slice the yeast loaf into rounds. Peel the apples, core them, and slice horizontally. Drizzle with lemon juice. Layer the apple slices and bread rounds in the dish, sprinkling sliced almonds on top.

Whisk together eggs, milk, quark, vanilla sugar, and sugar; pour over the apples and bread. Let sit for about 20 minutes.

Preheat oven to 200°C (390°F) with both fan and top heating.

Scatter butter chunks over the bake and roast the firewood with quark for approximately 35 minutes until golden brown.

Remove from oven and serve sprinkled with cinnamon sugar.
