Filled Banana Leaves

Ingredients

  • 100 g black rice
  • 100 g basmati rice
  • Salt
  • 1 cooking banana
  • 3 banana leaves

Instructions

  1. 1.

    Wash both types of rice and cook in about 600 ml water with salt for approximately 20 minutes. Add a little more water if needed or drain excess liquid.

    Peel the banana, cut into pieces, and mix into the cooked rice.

  3. 3.

    Cut the banana leaves into rectangles roughly 12 × 15 cm and fill each with the rice mixture. Fold and shape into about 8–12 parcels.

    Tie each parcel with kitchen twine or string and steam for 10–15 minutes.

  5. 5.

    Serve with coconut sauce to taste.
