Eggnog Cake

Ingredients
- butter (for the pan)
- 250 g softened butter
- 150 g sugar
- 2 tbsp vanilla sugar
- 1 pinch salt
- 5 eggs
- 400 g flour
- 1 tsp Baking powder
- 200 ml eggnog
- 1 untreated orange
- 100 g powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp eggnog

Preheat the oven to 160°C (320°F) fan-assisted. Grease a springform pan.

Cream the butter with sugar, vanilla sugar and salt. Separate the eggs; gradually fold the yolks into the butter mixture. Mix flour with baking powder and alternately fold it in with the eggnog into the batter. Whisk the egg whites until stiff peaks form and fold them into the batter.

Pour the batter into the springform pan, smooth the top, and bake for about 50 minutes (test with a skewer). Remove from oven and let cool in the pan before releasing the cake.

For decoration, zest the orange. Blanch briefly in water, then pat dry. Squeeze a little fresh orange juice. Whisk powdered sugar with eggnog and a touch of orange juice to make a thick glaze. Brush the glaze over the cooled cake and sprinkle with orange zest. Let it set before cutting into slices and serving.
