Classic Plaice

Classic plaice always tastes great and almost like grandma's!

Ingredients

  • 4 plaice (ready to cook, head removed)
  • 1 lemon (juice)
  • Salt
  • Pepper (freshly ground)
  • 4 tbsp flour
  • 2 tbsp clarified butter
  • 100 g turkey bacon
  • 2 shallots
  • 60 g Butter
  • 2 tbsp freshly chopped dill

Instructions

    Rinse the plaice and pat dry. Drizzle with a little lemon juice, season with salt and pepper, then coat in flour. In a large hot pan, cook in clarified butter for 4-5 minutes per side until slowly golden brown, spooning over the butter occasionally.

    Slice the turkey bacon into thin strips. Peel and slice the shallots into rings. In another pan, sauté them in butter for 2-3 minutes until lightly golden. Add dill and remaining lemon juice, season with salt and pepper. Briefly swirl each plaice piece in the onion-bacon butter before serving on plates with the butter.
