Ingredients

  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 20 ml amaretto
  • 1 tbsp grated lemon zest
  • 150 g flour
  • 30 g candied fruit (small cubes)
  • 1.5 l plant oil (for frying)
  • 250 g liquid honey
  • 50 g almond sticks

Instructions

    Beat the egg in a mixing bowl until frothy, add olive oil, amaretto and lemon zest, then add flour and mix into a smooth dough. On a lightly floured surface roll the dough to about 0.5 cm thickness, cut like gnocchi and shape small balls with your hands.

    Heat plant oil in a pot and fry the balls in batches until golden brown. Remove and drain on kitchen paper. Boil honey once, remove from heat and mix the fried balls, almonds and candied fruit together, then pour into a greased Gugelhupf pan, smooth top and refrigerate for about 2 hours.
