Ingredients

  • 300 g flour
  • 1 pinch salt
  • vegetable oil (for frying)
  • sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

    Bring 500 ml water to a boil covered with salt. Add all the flour at once and stir with a wooden spoon. Heat for about 3 minutes while stirring until the dough forms a lump that lifts from the pot bottom. Transfer the dough to a bowl, cover, and let rest for about 10 minutes. Then fill a pastry bag fitted with a medium star tip (≈1 cm).

    Heat oil in a tall pot or deep fryer to about 170 °C. The oil is ready when small bubbles rise on a wooden spoon handle placed in it.

    Squeeze the dough into the hot oil in ~12‑cm long pieces, cutting between each piece with a small knife if needed. Fry for 4–5 minutes until golden brown, turning once. Remove churros with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

    Dust with sugar and serve warm.
