Cevapcici with Rice

This traditional dish from Southeast Europe is deliciously spicy and pleases both young and old: Cevapcici with rice by Spoonsparrow.

Ingredients

  • 1 onion
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 300 g long-grain rice
  • 400 g passata tomatoes
  • 2 stalks Parsley
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • 150 g Frozen Peas
  • 1 Garlic clove
  • 600 g ground beef
  • 2 shallots
  • 1 tbsp sweet paprika powder
  • 1 egg yolk

Instructions

    Peel and finely dice the onion. In a pot, warm 1 tbsp oil, sauté the onion, add rice and deglaze with 200 ml water and passata tomatoes. Bring to a boil, then cover and simmer over low heat for about 25 minutes.

    Wash the parsley, shake dry, pick off leaves and stir in. Season with salt and pepper. Fold in peas and let sit covered for 10 minutes.

    Meanwhile, peel the garlic and press it into the ground beef using a garlic press. Dice the shallots finely. Add salt, paprika powder, and egg yolk to the mixture and knead together. Form thumb-sized rolls and slowly fry them in 2 tbsp oil until golden brown all around.

    Serve the cevapcici with rice on plates.
