Ingredients

  • 1 small white cabbage (ca. 1 kg)
  • 2 onions
  • 1 cup vinegar
  • 0.5 cup oil
  • 0.5 cup sugar
  • 0.5 tbsp salt
  • 1 tsp Mustard

Instructions

    Remove the outer leaves of the cabbage. Cut the cabbage in half and then cut each half again lengthwise into quarters. Remove the core. Shred the cabbage quarters finely with a vegetable grater and place them in a bowl.

    Peel the onions and dice them finely.

    Bring the vinegar, onions, oil, sugar and salt to a boil in a small pot. Remove from heat and stir in the mustard. Pour the hot liquid over the shredded cabbage and mix well.

    Cover the cabbage salad with a plate and refrigerate preferably overnight.

    Take the cabbage salad out of the refrigerator at least 15 minutes before serving, season with salt. Optionally sprinkle with chives or tomato cubes.
