Ingredients

  • 500 g red blackberries
  • 500 g black blackberries
  • 1 untreated lemon
  • 1 vanilla pod
  • 1 kg sugar

Instructions

    Wash and drain the blackberries. Rinse the lemon hot and slice it thinly. Split the vanilla pod lengthwise and scrape out the seeds. Boil the sugar with 1 l water, add the lemon slices, vanilla seeds, and pod, and bring to a boil once more. Add the blackberries to the syrup, simmer for about 10 minutes while gently mashing them with a potato masher. Remove from heat, cover, and let steep overnight.

    The next day strain through a fine cloth and press the berries. Reboil the berry syrup and fill into bottles that have been rinsed hot.
