Berry Jam

Ingredients

  • 1 kg blackberries
  • 500 g gooseberries
  • 500 ml water
  • 1000 g gelatin sugar (1:1)

Instructions

    Wash the blackberries and gooseberries, drain well and remove stems. Place the blackberries with 500 ml water in a pot and simmer for about 15 minutes until all berries burst. Then line a large colander with a damp muslin or kitchen towel, set it over a big pot. Pour the juice and berries into the colander. Let them slowly drain and cool completely.

    Measure one liter of cold juice, mix with the gelatin sugar, and bring to a vigorous boil in a large pot while stirring continuously until the mixture bubbles strongly. Boil for 4 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. While still hot, fill jars with the jam and seal immediately with screw caps.
