Beef Burger

Ingredients
- 1 stale roll
- 1 Shallot
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp freshly chopped parsley
- 1 tbsp freshly chopped marjoram
- 1 egg
- 400 g mixed ground beef
- 1 tbsp ketchup
- breadcrumbs
- Salt
- pepper (ground)
- 4 burger buns (or ciabatta as an alternative)
- 2 lettuce leaves (e.g., romaine)
- 2 Tomatoes
- 1 Red Onion
- 4 tbsp medium-hot mustard

Soak the stale roll in lukewarm water. Peel and finely chop the shallot, sauté it in 1 tbsp hot oil, add the chopped parsley and marjoram, and let cool slightly. Then mix with the egg, squeezed-out bread crumbs, and ketchup into the ground beef, adding breadcrumbs as needed until the mixture is firm but not too soft. Season well with salt and pepper. Shape patties, brush with remaining oil, and grill each side for 2-3 minutes on a grill or grill pan.

Slice the buns and place them cut-side down on the grill. Let them sit for 1-2 minutes until golden brown. Wash the lettuce leaves, pat dry, and slice into thin strips. Wash the tomatoes, remove the stem ends, and slice. Peel the onion and cut into rings.
