Baked Camembert with Strawberry Relish

Ingredients

  • 1 Shallot
  • 500 g strawberries
  • olive oil
  • 5 tbsp liquid honey
  • 100 ml raspberry vinegar
  • 1 tbsp green pickled pepper (jar)
  • Salt
  • 4 camembert cheeses
  • 1 egg
  • 80 g breadcrumbs
  • vegetable oil (for frying)

    Peel and finely chop the shallot. Wash, trim, and dice the strawberries into bite‑size pieces. In a saucepan sauté the onion in 1 tbsp oil until translucent, drizzle with honey, let caramelize, pour in vinegar, then stir in the strawberries. Add the pepper and simmer over medium heat for 4–5 minutes. Season with salt, remove from heat, and allow to cool slightly.

    Coat each camembert first in beaten egg, then in breadcrumbs, pressing the coating firmly onto the cheese. Fry in hot oil until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.
