Ingredients
- 400 g beef (e.g., sirloin)
- 2 onions
- 2 Garlic cloves
- 1 chili pepper
- 1 tsp ginger (freshly grated)
- 0.5 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 0.5 tsp turmeric
- a pinch cinnamon
- 1 tbsp mustard oil
- 1 tsp tamarind paste
- 1 tsp brown sugar
- 1 lemon (juice)
- 400 g basmati rice
Instructions

Wash the beef, pat dry and cut into cubes.

Peel and finely dice the garlic and onions.

Rinse the chili pepper and slice into rings.

Brown the beef in hot oil. Add onions, garlic, and chili, then stir in the spices and sauté briefly. Deglaze with lemon juice, add tamarind and sugar, pour in about 150 ml water. Cover and simmer over low heat for about 1 hour slowly. If needed, add a little more water.

Cook the rice according to package instructions or steam it, and serve with the beef vindaloo.
