Apple-Pear Trifle

The Apple-Pear Trifle by Spoonsparrow is wonderful as a dessert for picnics.

Ingredients

  • 400 g apples (2 apples)
  • 300 g Pears (2 Pears)
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 Vanilla bean
  • 0.5 lemon (juice)
  • 100 g whole-grain oat cookies
  • 100 g Mascarpone
  • 250 g low-fat quark
  • 150 ml Milk (3.5% fat)
  • a pinch cinnamon
  • a pinch cardamom

Instructions

    Peel and quarter the apples and pears, remove cores, and dice the fruit. In a pot, combine with 1 tbsp honey, split vanilla bean, and lemon juice; cover and bring to a boil, then remove from heat and let cool. Remove the vanilla bean again.

    Crush the cookies coarsely.

    Whisk mascarpone with quark, milk, remaining honey, cinnamon, and cardamom until smooth.

    Layer the crushed cookies, cream, and fruit alternately in four glasses. Chill in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes before serving.
