Apple Bread Casserole
Apple-Bread-Casserole by Spoonsparrow: This recipe is great for turning stale rolls and wrinkled apples into a delightful treat!
Ingredients
- soft butter (for the molds)
- 5 stale rolls
- 500 ml milk
- 1 pinch salt
- 0.5 tsp lemon zest
- 1 pinch cinnamon
- 4 tbsp sugar
- 2 Eggs
- 2 small apples
- 1 tbsp Lemon Juice
- 50 g Raisins
- 50 g almond slivers
- 20 g butter
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F) with upper and lower heat. Butter four muffin tins or one large casserole dish.

Slice the rolls into rounds and place them in a bowl. Whisk together the milk, salt, lemon zest, cinnamon, sugar, and eggs until well combined. Pour over the rolls and let soak.

Wash, peel, and finely slice the apples. Drizzle with lemon juice. Alternate layers of softened roll slices and apple strips in the tins. Finish with the milk mixture. Sprinkle raisins and almond slivers on top. Cut the butter into pieces and scatter them over the casserole. Bake for about 30 minutes until golden brown.

Remove from oven, allow to cool briefly, and serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
