Apple and Pear Compote

Ingredients

  • 400 g Boskop apples (or other tart apples)
  • 400 g pears
  • 1 lemon, zest and juice (unprocessed)
  • 50 g sugar
  • 3 tbsp sultanas
  • 2 Cinnamon sticks

Instructions

    Peel the apples and pears, quarter them, remove the core, and cut into large cubes.

    Bring the apples and pears with 300 ml water, lemon juice, half of the lemon zest, sugar to taste, roughly broken cinnamon sticks, and sultanas to a boil in a pot. Cover and simmer over medium heat for several minutes until the fruit is tender but not mushy. Then pour into serving dishes and let cool. Serve in dessert glasses or bowls.
